Welcome Back & Orientation Recap

The first three weeks of school in August were an absolute blast! All 1st through 5th-grade students visited the library for orientation to brush up on our check-in and check-out expectations.

One "Just Right" Book

A book selected so students can read independently and build reading confidence all on their own.

One "Fun" Book

A book chosen purely for enjoyment, because cultivating a lifelong love of reading is our top priority!

Welcome Incoming Kindergarten Readers!

We are so excited to welcome our Kindergarten readers to the library in the next couple of weeks! Kindergarteners will check out one book that they will keep in their classroom (per classroom guidelines) while they learn how the library works and how to take special care of our books.

Tech Talk: iPads & Tech Fees

All students have been assigned their iPad for the school year. Please take note of these essential district reminders:

POLICY

Acceptable Responsible Use Policy Form

Per district policy, if you have not signed online or returned a signed paper form, your child cannot have their iPad in the classroom (except during required testing).

FEE

Annual $30 Technology Fee

Thank you to everyone who has already paid! If you haven't had a chance yet, please submit payment as soon as possible via online payment, or send cash/check (made out to the school).

What does the $30 tech fee cover?

It ensures your child is covered for iPad damages, provides access to paid educational apps and learning resources, maintains school Wi-Fi connections, and supports digital learning infrastructure.

Co-Teaching & Learning Spotlight

I am thrilled to collaborate with our classroom teachers this year to co-teach lessons that seamlessly blend information literacy, technology, and literature with current classroom learning goals!

Coming Up Next Week

5th Grade "Book Tasting" & AI Art Exploration

Next week, I’m working with all 5th-grade classes on a Genre Book Tasting. Students will explore different literary genres and then use Canva’s Magic Media AI tool to generate original artwork that illustrates key elements of their favorite genre!

Daily Reading Challenge & Home Resources

Reading Every Day Makes a Difference!

Did you know? Reading 20 minutes a day exposes a child to approximately 1.8 million words per year!

Librarian Reading Streak Challenge

I always share my personal reading goal with our students: my current Kindle reading streak is at 1,015 days in a row! I share this not to brag, but to show our students that if I can make time to read every single day as a busy mom who loves to travel, they can do it too!
